A Long Journey Ahead

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Well after weeks of debating with myself over either coding out our site by hand, using a random CMS, or to keep searching for an answer, I finally decided on what to do. Turn a blogging script into a full design studio website. Sounds kinda crazy to most people, but to be honest Wordpress is probably a few major releases away from being a fully functioning CMS. With all the ways to customize it from plugins, and what you can do with themes in WP, its really not that hard, or that big of a leap to think of it as a CMS right now.

For me it works out quite nicely; I get to have another blog which i quite enjoy, it gives me a way to share tutorials and code snippets with the world, as well as a nice website to showcase my design. Hopefully this won’t be as long a road as I expect it to be, but while I can install and fully set up a functioning blog using wordpress in under 5 hours, I have only once created my own theme for it, and have never really gotten into heavy modification of things on the site.

So we will just have to see where it goes from here. Hopefully within a week or two the first version will be up and running and fully functional. I will be posting here from time to time about how this proccess is going, and if I come up with any nice little tips or tricks, then I will also post those.

Your Gracious Host,
Corey E.
